And so it begins…
Hello. Welcome to A Little Space. A place for restorative massage and true relaxation and a place where I hope I can help you create a little more space in your everyday worlds.
I am Sarah. Qualifying as a holistic massage therapist in London many years ago was one of the best things I ever did. After many years in other work and being pretty detached from my own sense of wellbeing, this was my first real dive into the world of wellness and a world I began to truly love. After a variety of experiences, I am so excited to finally be at a point where I can offer the type of treatments I love, in a place that is home. My treatments are slow and considered. They are based largely around holistic massage with the added sprinklings of guided meditation, sounds and scent and delivered from a place of pure love. I have been slowly curating these treatments and this space and it has taken a long time for me to be ready, both physically and mentally, to share this with the world and I really hope you will enjoy it.
The treatment itself begins with conversation. A vital part of the process which I value very highly. It is so wonderful and integral to connect with each new client, to really try to understand a little of who they are and, importantly, where they are on that day. This connection is as important for every single visit, no matter how many times we meet. Every day brings something new. It is a lovely time for us to see what is going on, both physically and emotionally. A little bit of time to focus on you, to allow yourself a moment to genuinely enquire as to how you are feeling in that moment. This will also then inform the treatment you will receive and which beautiful blend of oil we will use for your treatment.
It's then time to lie down on the massage table. Even that moment is bliss, it’s permission to surrender. In the candlelit environment, it is time to be still. I will take you through a guided meditation where nothing is required of you, just peacefully absorb my words as they encourage you into a state of relaxation, as your body and mind begins to calm down. This really sets the tone for the massage itself. It encourages your body to relax a little more than however you arrived in the room, allowing you to be in a much better position to receive the benefits of the body work.
I will then intuitively move through a massage treatment working on areas that I feel would be of most benefit, using a variety of techniques and pressure to guide the body to release and ease tension and encourage it back to a relaxed, more normal state. The use of therapeutic touch is a wonderful way to relax your muscles and start to put your body at ease.
As the massage comes to an end, I will then start to bring you slowly back to the room by using my words and sound and then allowing you a few moments to simply lie still and absorb all that you have received before you finally open your eyes and slowly come back to yourself and the room. All before you slowly and quietly re-enter the world with a more calm and peaceful sense of self.
Relaxation is often a highly sought after but hard to achieve state. When we are truly relaxed in both body and mind it allows our whole self to function properly, both internally and externally. It can help us think clearly and creatively, our muscles do not hold tension, stress fades away and all our internal systems can begin to work efficiently and fluidly.
Often if we can create relaxation in the mind, the body will follow and vice versa. The body, mind and soul work as a whole system and I wanted to create a treatment that focused on all these elements. When our body and mind are, as they often are, living in high alert, it is very hard to slow down and relax. I hope to be able to gently guide you to this soothing place.
We often need to be guided or, even better, encourage ourselves into this state. I find we can choose regular practices, both big and small, to include in our day, week or month such as massage, mediation, a stretch, a slow coffee, a mindful stroll, a quiet read or journaling your thoughts, to name just a few, to really assist with this. These regular practices or rituals can encourage the space that your mind, body and soul is craving and could be the much-needed tonic to the stresses of everyday life.
We live in a fast-paced world, a world that I and many others I know find it hard to know how and when to slow down, to find even just a little space within themselves. I hope to offer restorative massage therapy that fosters a physical, emotional and energetic reset. I want to offer true relaxation, a place of calm away from the hustle of the world. I want to help spread calming vibrations to benefit you and all those around you.
I am so pleased you are here and I cannot wait to meet you.
